Golden Goal Toppels Cap Valley
Almost sounds like a repeat and well it was for the Capistrano Valley Boys Soccer team in the CIF Div 2 Final match against Valley View. In the fourth minute of play Valley View's Guana finished a corner kick with a header to the back of the neck for the golden goal in the 1st OT period. The crowd errupted and the Cap Valley boys fell where they stood, I am sure, searching for something to say that this was not happening to them for the second year in a row. Cap Valley was playing for either VV to make a mistake or for the match to go into a PK shootout playing with five defenders and clogging the center of the pitch. It looked as though the match was theirs in the 62 minute of play when a penalty was called against VV in their penalty area. Lined up for the PK the striker struck the ball and the keeper with what only could be called "cat" like reflexes blocked the PK shot. The momentum of the match was all Valley View except for a couple of minutes in the match and for the PK call. Valley View was deserving of the win.2011 Golden Goal
