Claremont HS played Damien HS on Monday, winning the match in a PK Shootout 1-1 (7-6). Then played Diamond Bar on Wednesday and won the match 4-2 then turn around and play Glendora on Thursday and win 2-1. What makes the feat even more special is that all games were played on the road.
Damien:
Claremont and Damien Varsity squads played to a tie in regulation time off of goals from set plays in the Rancho Tournament third place final.
Damien's goal was scored when the CHS Center Back chose to give our GK a clear chance at the chip from the opponent's striker, which subsequently went into the goal.
The Pack goal came soon after when the ball went into the Damien net off a Spartans Defender for an own goal.
After a very tightly contested regulation 80 minutes, the match then went to the 9th round in a PK shoot out with Claremont winning by a 7-6 margin. Pack shoot out scorers were Tyler Antillon, Ismael Rodriguez, Daniel Kim, Denes Kantor, Michael Lozano, Kelley Collins, and the last CHS score from Cooper Weissman.
Sam Newton played very well in goal for CHS.
Diamond Bar:
CHS Varsity defeated Diamond Bar's squad 4 - 2 in a game that was closer than the final score.
Diamond Bar scored first in the first half, but the Wolfpack got the equalizer before halftime on a nice goal by Denes Kantor with an assist to Daniel Kim.
The Pack scored again in the second half when Korbin Kimball scored on a pass from Denes Kantor. Shane Hewitt was next to score for CHS when he put a pass from Daniel Kim into Diamond Bar's Net. Ismael Rodriguez closed out the scoring for the pack when he put a pass from Cooper Weissman into the opponent's net.
Bryan Landgreen was solid in the nets for CHS.
Glendora:
Varsity came back from a 1 goal deficit when Jesse Rodgers got a goal on a header after a throw in by Jason Umansky after about 12 minutes in the second half. With the game tied at 1 per team, Denes Kantor put a pass from Paul Cho in the net for a 2 - 1 Wolfpack lead. The game ended 2 - 1.
Sam Newton was in goal for the Pack.
