Which Brings up Rankings?

The Claremont HS Girls Soccer team just moved up to the #1 ranking in the  USA  according to Maxpreps.com when they are not even rated in their own CIF Division 3 polls, or another standard poll ESPN Gatoraide Top 50.  I am not trying to take anything away from the girls, they are good soccer players, but I want to make the point about polls. Claremont's coaching staff does not report their scores to the CIF website, thus no ranking, they do post to Maxpreps. It is early in the poll season (week#3) and everyone has their favorite teams, programs with past reputations. Claremont beat Upland HS a proverbial ESPN Gatoraide Top 50. This year they are #44. And recently beat Chino Hills a Maxpreps.com #9 national ranking team. It will be interesting to see how the news and rankings of the Claremont girls spreads and improves. Last year the Claremont boys team road the wave of their success all the way to a top ranking in ESPN #4 National having started out just like the girls with no media coverage as well.

Hey Now! CHS Girls Making Waves!

The Claremont Girls Soccer program just received the Maxpreps #1 ranking in CIF,  CA. and the Country. The girls are 10-0-1. Here is a list of their opponents. Congratulations!

Youth Soccer News: Southern California Developmental Soccer League Launches. Interviews With Scott Murray, Sasha van der Most, Teddy Chronopolous and Derek Armstrong on the New League.
The landscape of youth soccer should be used to change as soccer has evolved dramatically over the past few decades.  With the goal of developing soccer players who can compete and win on a world stage, a new league in Southern California emerges.  Before, with our win-at-all-cost American mentality, our club soccer players were placed in a competitive scenario where technical training was often over shadowed by the importance of winning and practice training sessions took second place to soccer matches........moreAbout So Cal Developmental Soccer League

Claremont HS Boys Soccer makes it 3 Wins on the week.

Claremont HS played Damien HS on Monday, winning the match in a PK Shootout 1-1 (7-6). Then played Diamond Bar on Wednesday and won the match 4-2 then turn around and play Glendora on Thursday and win 2-1. What makes  the feat even more special is that all games were played on the road.

Damien:

Claremont and Damien Varsity squads played to a tie in regulation time off of goals from set plays in the Rancho Tournament third place final.

Damien's goal was scored when the CHS Center Back chose to give our GK a clear chance at the chip from the opponent's striker,  which subsequently went into the goal.

The Pack goal came soon after when the ball went into the Damien net off a Spartans Defender for an own goal.

After a very tightly contested regulation 80 minutes, the match then went to the 9th round in a PK shoot out with Claremont winning by a 7-6 margin. Pack shoot out scorers were Tyler Antillon, Ismael Rodriguez, Daniel Kim, Denes Kantor, Michael Lozano, Kelley Collins, and the last CHS score from Cooper Weissman.

Sam Newton played very well in goal for CHS.

Diamond Bar:

CHS Varsity defeated Diamond Bar's squad 4 - 2 in a game that was closer than the final score.

Diamond Bar scored first in the first half, but the Wolfpack got the equalizer before halftime on a nice goal by Denes Kantor with an assist to Daniel Kim.

The Pack scored again in the second half when Korbin Kimball scored on a pass from Denes Kantor. Shane Hewitt was next to score for CHS when he put a pass from Daniel Kim into Diamond Bar's Net.  Ismael Rodriguez closed out the scoring for the pack when he put a pass from Cooper Weissman into the opponent's net.

Bryan Landgreen was solid in the nets for CHS.

Glendora:

Varsity came back from a 1 goal deficit when Jesse Rodgers got a goal on a header after a throw in by Jason Umansky after about 12 minutes in the second half. With the game tied at 1 per team, Denes Kantor put a pass from Paul Cho in the net for a 2 - 1 Wolfpack lead. The game ended 2 - 1.

Sam Newton was in goal for the Pack.
